January 25: Turner Albee, skiing for Quarry Road out of Waterville, 
won the Boys 2025 Junior Sassi 3k Freestyle at Black Mountain of Maine. Albee's time of 9:29.2 was 2 seconds faster than Maine West's Abe Crooker, who finished in 9:31.8. Taking the final podium position was Noel Waterman of Gray-New Gloucester with a time of 9:41.9.
Paxton Coughlin of Quarry Road came in fourth, crossing the line in 9:58.3. In fifth place was Farmington Area Ski Team's Lucas Demarco with a time of 10:08.1. Will Ainsworth of Quarry Road took the sixth position with a time of 10:12.3. Also finishing in the top ten were Elliot Plog of Day Mountain with a time of 10:18.6, Avery Marble of FAST (10:36.6), William Strickland of FAST (10:39.4) and Daniel Fullerton of the Auburn Ski Club (10:45.4).
In the girls race, Yarmouth's Louisa Chalmers took the gold with a time of 10:47.8. Second 
place was won by Amelie Van Der Meer of Quarry Road with a time of 10:50.4. Crossing the line in third place was Hazel Waterman of Gray-New Gloucester with a time of 10:52.5.
Hazel Badgett of Maine West had a time of 11:01,6, good enough for fourth place. Farmington Area Ski Team's Clara Ernst took fifth place with a time of 11:11.1. In sixth place was Scotia Bell of Quarry Road, who had a time of 11:15.1.
Rounding out the top ten were Maisy Colby of Maine West (11:27.4), Nola Mewer of the Auburn Ski Team (12:06.2), Nora Lindsay of FAST (12:06.3), and her teammate Emma Tyler (12:16.4).

SEEDING: Racers to be seeded from fastest to slowest.
AWARDS: Awards will be approx. 10:30 AM. Location to be announced. Racers must be present to win the bib draws.
WAX TESTING: Wax testing allowed on the course up to 10 minutes before the start. Everyone must ski in the direction of the race course.
COURSE All spectators and coaches are welcome out on the course during race. Skiers MOVEMENT: must travel in the direction of the race course at all times.

BIB PICK-UP: Bib pick-up will be in race headquarters upon arrival at Black Mountain. Race headquarters opens at 8:00 AM. Please return unused bibs prior to the start of the race. $50.00 fee charged for any lost bib.

This is a chance for Junior Skiers in grades 8 and under from across the State to come together in one great event with a course and venue prepared to a National level. Come make this event the premier event of the season.
