Mark Lena, Sam Evans-Brown and Anne Marie Prewitt were the gold medalists in the 50K race of the 3rd Annual John Roderick Marathon. To put it in perspective, a 50K race is the equivalent of skiing from Rumford, Maine to Turner. Lena, from Orono, Maine, completed the Classical style versionof the race in 4:01:31.3. Evans-Brown, of Concord, NH completed the course in 2:37:26.3 to win the freestyle discipline. daniel-baumertTop female finisher Prewitt finshed in 4:03:09.4. Other racers who completed the 50K race were David Herr (2:52:01.1), Roger Prevot (3:06:58.7), Matt Lunt, Brett Deyling, Mark Danyla, Myles Chase, Travis Adams and Daniel Baumert.

Other winners were Stephanie Wetzel in the women's 15K Classical, Meghan Flanagan in the women's 15K Freestyle, Emily Ramsey in the women's 10K Classical, Lauren Rollins in the women's 10K Freestyle, Jeff Walker in the men's 25K Classical, PALLEIKO, Jeff Palleiko in the men's 25K Freestyle, Ben Palmer in the men's 10K Classical, and Jim Rollins in the 10K Freestyle.

Our oldest competitor was 80 year old Larry Berman, who completed his second 25K race in two days, having completed the Flying Moose 25K in Bethel on Saturday. Our youngest competitior was 10 year old Seth Rollins, who finished the 10K Freestyle.

The greatest display of perserverance was by Baumert, who completed the 50K race in 5:00:42.2.

The John Roderick Marathon is sponsored by Chisholm Ski Club in association with Bethel Outing club and the Western Maine Nordic Weekend. The weekend event included the Flying Moose Classic, part of the ZaK Cup and Club Series, on Saturday February 7, 2015 and the J. R. Marathon, part of the New England Marathon Series, on Sunday February 8, 2015. Event details: Sunday's event offered 50 km, 25 km, 15 km, 10 km and 5 km timed freestyle or classic races on the historic John Roderick Trail System using a 5273 m course.
