Mt. Blue takes Day 1 Lead
Marshwood High School's Hadley Prewitt won the Women's Maine High School Class A Giant Slalom at Black Mountain on February 17th.
Prewitt had runs of 53.64 and 52.19 for a two-run total of 1:45.83 to earn the gold. The silver went to her teammate Lydia Phipps, who had runs of 54.25 and 52.95 (1:47.20). The bronze went to Falmouth's Celia Geci, who skied to times of 54.71 and 55.12 (149.83).
Sadie McDonough of Mt. Blue came in fourth with runs of 54.87 and 55.21 (1:50.08). Greely's Ruth Weeks was the fifth place finisher. Her runs of 55.97 and 55.75 gave her a combined time of 1:51.72. Windham's Sarah Hare came in sixh with times of 55.64 and 56.23 (1:51.87).
Also receiving ribbons for finishing in the top 10 were Khloe Dean of Mt. Blue (1:52.52), Rosie St. Cyr of Freeport (1:52.84, Maddie Marcisso of Cheverus (1:53.04), and Mt. Blue's Katie Yeaton 1:53.72).
The Mt. Blue women held a team lead after the day 1 competition with 769 points followed by Freeport/Brunswick with 738 points.
Competion continues tomorrow at Black Mountain with the women slated to ski the first run of the Slalom at 9:00 am.
